An Echocardiogram, or 'ECHO,' is a specialised cardiac ultrasound exam that is used to evaluate the structure and function of the heart. It creates images of the chambers and walls of your heart, as well as valves and major blood vessels.
The examination assesses the function of the heart muscle and valves as well as evaluates whether your heart is of normal size. Using high-frequency sound waves, an Echocardiogram creates moving images and Doppler traces, allowing us to perform a complete assessment of the heart structure and function.
