Patient experience: Rebecca’s Story

Arriving at the London Upright Centre for her MRI scan, Rebecca’s anxieties were soon short-lived once she met with the team at Vista Health.

"From the moment I stepped foot in the building I was welcomed in such a lovely, calming and supportive manner."

Rebecca suffers from claustrophobia and from previous experience of having an MRI, she chose, this time around, to opt for an Upright MRI scan.

Upon arrival, she was met by Farzana, one of the Vista Health support team, who welcomed her in and looked after her throughout her visit.

"My nerves overcame my memory and I had no chance of remembering her name, but by then I had decided for the day her name was ‘Angel’. I know it sounds cheesy, but I can’t express enough how much her kindness, encouragement, support and professionalism meant to me."

When it was time for the scan, Rebecca was then taken through to meet Eric, the sonographer. Again, she was overwhelmed by how kind, reassuring, yet very professional he was.

"Both Eric and Farzana made sure I felt in control the whole time and consistently reassured me throughout my visit."

Following her scan, Rebecca felt hugely relieved, in part due to the ease and relaxed nature of her visit but in most due to the level of support she received by the Vista team.

"The service, professionalism, kindness and support I experienced today was second to none. I cannot speak highly enough of my time with both Farzana and Eric and I think in a world that’s so quick to complain, it’s really important to celebrate and recognise the super stars out there, who really make a difference."

With Claustrophobia affecting around 12.5% of the population, there are many, understandably, who may feel hesitant about booking an MRI scan. An Upright MRI scan at Vista Health can now, however, help more people like Rebecca, move forward confidently.

For patients who suffer from claustrophobia, anxiety or for those unable to lie flat for extended periods due to size or mobility issues, Upright Open MRI scanners are the ideal choice. With the scanner able to move to a position that allows for superior imaging of the targeted body part, this offers a range of different MRI scans including brainspineshoulderankle, and the pelvis.
