What are you looking most forward to about this role?

I am really looking forward to being part of the leadership team, continually striving to improve our service offering to our patients, to provide an even higher standard of care moving forward and working with new technologies and teams to be Industry leaders in the provision of excellent Healthcare.

What inspired your interest in radiology?

Over the years, hospital consultants have become more and more specialised to one part or organ of the body only. Radiology allows me to be an expert in interpreting images for almost all parts of the body although my particular specialities are MRI and all aspects of Breast radiology. This allows me to keep up to date and knowledgeable about the whole body and to better understand all aspects of my patients’ conditions and concerns.

Without imaging and Radiology, most other specialities cannot obtain a clear diagnosis or make a correct management or surgical plan.  This means that we are always central and essential to patient care, in whichever setting that might be in terms of inpatient or outpatient scenarios.

Looking back, what was your background before Vista Health?

I started my medical training at St John’s College, Cambridge and had a wonderful time there studying, playing sports, and certainly enjoying the social aspects of university life!

I trained as a Junior doctor in London and my Radiology training was at UCL / The Middlesex, London.

I have been a consultant for just under 20 years and have loved every bit of it (except the 3am wake up calls!)

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I love all Sports and enjoy attending live sports matches with my wife, including Rugby, Football, Cricket, and Tennis at Wimbledon. Watching Liverpool win the FA cup in 2022 live at Wembley was a real high, but during the penalty shoot-out, I almost ended up needing medical care and a Vista scan myself due to stress!!

I enjoy travelling both in the UK and abroad and eating high quality food and fine dining whenever possible! I have recently joined a fantastic gym to ensure the consequences of the fine dining are kept under control!

What are your top 3 favourite books?

The Lord of the Rings – J R Tolkien – A favourite from the age of 8 – who doesn’t like hobbits?!

A Promised Land – Barack Obama   -- A wonderfully written book about a modern-day true hero (in my opinion), full of great anecdotes and a great insight into the complexities of running for office in the USA – very different from the UK!

Surrounded by Idiots – Thomas Erikson – My wife made me read this book after she read it and apparently gave her the ability to suddenly understand people that had made no sense to her before! Suffice to say, I read it and I understand a lot more than I did before about people, even after 50 years!

What are your top 3 favourite films?

Top Gun & Top Gun Maverick – I may have watched this over 200 times and still love it! (Unlike other sequels, Maverick is surprisingly brilliant too)!

The West Wing… Amazing series and Aaron Sorkin is a genius.

Love Actually – whether it’s Christmas or not, such an entertaining film with a bit of absolutely everything in it, so many great actors and always ends with me looking at booking another holiday as it reminds me that Heathrow airport is just down the road!

If you’re about to begin a healthcare journey, you’re likely to have a few questions. We’ve tried to answer the most common queries here - but if you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can always ask one of our friendly patient care advisors.

I don’t have any symptoms. Can I still book a procedure?

Yes. Diagnostic healthcare can provide reassurance that all is well, and help you plan a healthy future lifestyle.

Can I discuss my results?

We offer a consultation service with GMC registered GPs to discuss your scan results.

*20% consultation discount will be applied when booked together with your scan.

How much will diagnostic healthcare cost?

Our diagnostic services start from as little as £75.

What if I cannot refer myself?

Self-referral is available in most circumstances. However, in some instances, we may need further clinical information. We will contact you if this is the case. If needed, we offer a virtual GP consultation service where we can provide you with a referral and a follow-up consultation to discuss results.

Can I refer myself?

We accept self-referral in most cases. Self-referral allows you to take control of your own health with direct access to our own specialist diagnostic services. We also offer a GP consultation service to provide you with a referral if you need one.

When will I get my results?

We aim to deliver all results within three working days of your appointment. If you have not heard from us within this timeframe, please contact us.

How long will my appointment take?

It depends on the scan or screening you choose, but most appointments take less than 90 minutes. We ask you to arrive around 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

How do I book an appointment?

For most services you can book online or by phone, and you don’t need a GP referral. Choose your service, your preferred location and a convenient date here.
